Most of the so-called tutorials I found simply taught users how to run a pre-loaded case, this basically amounted to typing in a meshing command followed by an execute calculation command. In this video I hope to provide users with enough information that they feel comfortable running their own custom simulation. One step I left out was creating the initial project folder; to do this simply copy a tutorial example that closely resembles what you want to do. A new investigation of Tobias Holzmann. Inspired by the latest Lagrangian simulations popped out everywhere in the web based on the Corona panedmia in 2020, the need to investigate into the DPMFoam was given. The size distribution of the droplets was extracted from the publication from Han et al. The velocity at the mouth was assumed from different papers (still too high) and modeled via a coded boundary condition. In addition, arbitrary fluctuations were added to the velocity components while keeping the magnitude conserved (a full description will appear on the website 🤍). The simulation was performed without a backward coupling to the carrier phase. This simulation does not prove the distance, nor it is of real scientific interest. However, this case should be more realistic than many other sneezing simulations published nowadays. The main intention was to investigate into the DPMFoam and building a new community tutorial. A new development is presented for humidity calculations in HVAC simulations. The video shows the influence of the humidity onto the density field. The humidity library takes the water content into account. Thus, the density change with respect to the water content. The simulation is isotherm. Therefore, the driving force for the buoyancy term is humidity. Note: This video is wrong due to the fact that humid air is lighter and should stay at the top. The bug was already removed. Aircraft mokup (1/10), modeled with OpenFoam, sliding mesh method for the blades rotation and LES turbulence model. Iso-speed surfaces are showed (5.4 & 10 m/s) as well as pressure (Pa) on the fuselage. The flight speed is 6m/s and the rotation speed of the blades is equal to 25 rounds per second. Mesh is built with blockmesh and SnappyHexMesh OpenFOAM utilities. The post-processing has been made with Paraview.
